4 HORIZONTAL INTERTEXTUAL CONNECTIONS

Doctor Who - Abed Nadir is a character obsessed with "Inspector Spacetime" which is the show's pseudonym for Doctor Who.

Law and Order - There is an entire episode filmed like an Law and Order. They even steal the DuhDun when changing to a different scene.

Friends - Throughout the entire 3 seasons there are constant references to the show. For instance Abed mentions to a fellow study group member that they "were a lot like Chandler and Phoebe." Simply because they didn't have many story lines together. 

The Office - An episode is filmed just like a fake documentary in the style of The Office. Each character gets to speak and address the camera.


4 VERTICAL INTERTEXTUAL CONNECTIONS

Goodwill Hunting - A character named Troy has a mysterious gift where he can fix any plumbing problem just like Matt Damon's character can fix any math problem.

A Few Dollars More - The is an episode called A Few Paintballs More, where all the characters play paintball and the characters even wear costumes that reference the movie directly.

Star Wars - In another paintball episode they all reference Star Wars characters. Abed's character forces himself into the Han Solo role before Jeff Winger, "lapses into it by default."

Pulp Fiction - An episode references all the characters from Pulp Fiction at a fancy dress party. The plot of the episode references the 'bromance' of John Travolta and Samuel L Jackson as well.
